Final Cut Pro – Intermediate

Who is it for?
Anyone with a basic understanding of Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Express who wants to increase their skill level through learning some of the more advanced features and efficient ways of working within Final Cut Pro

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:-
  • Advanced Editing Tecniques:
    • • 4-Point Editing; Audio Split Edits; Trimming; Match Frame; Changing the Speed of a Clip
    • • Using Target Tracks and Auto-Select
    • • Making Subclips; Working with Markers
  • Organising Media:
    • • Finding Footage; Adjusting clip settings; Modifying Timecode; Changing sequence settings;
  • Applying Effects:
    • • Colour Corrector; Titling and Rollers; Transitions; Keying; Transfer modes
    • • Applying Keyframes to clips; Rendering Effects
  • Audio Mixing and Effects:
    • • Organizing and Previewing Audio Tracks; Adjusting and Editing Audio in the Timeline; Changing Audio Levels Over Time, Mixing Tracks Using the Audio Mixer
    • • Applying Audio Filters
    • • Recording a Narration Track;
  • Offline to Online within FCP:
    • • Taking a project from Offline to Online within FCP Using Media Manager
    • • Moving a project to another NLE for Onlining
    • • Export options – Soundtrack Pro; Motion; Pro-Tools; Logic Pro; After Effects; (Reference movies, XML, OMF, EDL)
  • Finishing and Exporting
    • • Reconnecting Media; Using Mediamanager to Back-up/Consolidate a project; Exporting sequences/Still Frames/Audio Tracks; Editing a sequence to Tape/Printing to Video
  • Troubleshooting and Customising FCP:
    • • Sync Problems; Button Lists; Customising Shortcut Keys; Easy Set-ups;

Training Approach
The course will be hands on for the most part. There will be on FCP station to two participants and the tutor will be demonstrating on an overhead projector
