DV One Man Unit Directing
Course Outline
The course will be run over two weekends.
The course will include:

• The DV Director - Over view of skills and techniques

• The documentary maker - a personal approach to story-telling.

• Technique/Style - Shoot from the hip – good coverage / think on your feet / one take recording.

• Practical Instruction

• To include recording and playback workshop

• Participants will shoot and view DV material.
The aim of this course is to introduce the basic technical skills required for shooting and recording sound on DV cameras for television, and to highlight the specific styles and techniques which can be applied by a director to overcome the limitations of filming without a crew on DV.
Producer / Director
Michael Ford is the founder of Infinite Wisdom Productions Limited (UK). Having studied media and business for four years Michael went on to train in video production skills ranging from camera and lighting to sound and editing, honing these abilities during an intensive nine-month scheme at the Light House Media Centre. It was here he successfully produced his first short drama, Behind Closed Doors, before moving forward to script and direct his next project, Walks Of Life, a high-speed tale that went
on to be showcased at the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television, and has since been shown on the BBC Big Screen in the heart of Birmingham.
